Today, millions of pleasure boats, commercial boats & yachts (gas & diesel alike) have direct venting from their fuel tanks to overboard. Fuel is spilled through this vent just about every time the fuel tanks are filled and/or when the vessel's attitude is changed (i.e. accelerated take off, stern down and rough seas), also on hot summer days when fuel expands.

Don't be fooled by other products that claim to solve fuel spillage problems, they do not! They are cumbersome, they make fueling a hassle every time and they create other problems, i.e. fuel backsplash, creates hazardous waste and some are open vented to the atmosphere allowing condensation to get into your fuel tank. Some of these products also restrict vent airflow from and to your fuel tank which is a direct violation of the United States Coast Guard regulation 183.520.

When adding fuel to the fuel tank, the air that is present in the tank is pushed through the vent line and out into the atmosphere. When the tank becomes full of fuel, fuel is now forced out the vent line, burping raw fuel out into the waterways. In most cases, this is impossible to avoid.
